Can you track profit by job?
Yes. We set up jobs or projects in QuickBooks and code income and costs to them, so your monthly reports show which jobs earned their keep.
How do you handle customer deposits?
Deposits for work not yet done are recorded as customer prepayments (a liability) and moved to income as the work is completed, so you are not paying tax or celebrating profit too early.
My books are a total mess. Can you even work with this?
